20 Years of Call of Charon – Three Shows and a Piece of Band History
Since 2006, Call of Charon have stood for melodic deathcore made in Duisburg – heavy, melodic and inspired by Greek and Roman mythology. In 2026 the local heroes celebrate their 20th anniversary in top form: their current album "Tales of Tragedy" (Massacre Records, 2025) was mixed and mastered by Stephan Hawkes (Attila, Chelsea Grin) and features guest spots from Dane Evans (To The Grave) and hardcore icon Damien Moyal.
Three Anniversary Shows, Right on Their Doorstep
On Sunday, July 26 Call of Charon headline the Krachgarten in Wesel. On Tuesday, July 28 they support Florida metalcore veterans Evergreen Terrace at Don't Panic in Essen – and on Wednesday, July 29 they join Massachusetts heavyweights Unearth at the Kulttempel in Oberhausen.
Back to the Roots: the 2006 Demo
For the three anniversary shows the band has prepared something special: an exclusive anniversary shirt bundle containing a piece of band history that was never meant for the public. A few weeks ago, four long-lost rehearsal room recordings from 2006 – taped in Bottrop-Eigen – resurfaced on an old hard drive: "My Confession (This Is the End)", "Salvation Bullet", "The Essence of Memories" and "Days in Desperation" – the first four songs of their 2007 debut EP "Shot Dead Drowning" in their original form.
"Demo 2006" is deliberately released as a DIY edition straight out of the mid-2000s: DVD case, printed CD-R, black-and-white colliery artwork, hand-numbered and limited to 50 copies. It is available exclusively in the bundle at the three shows in Wesel, Essen and Oberhausen – the recordings will never appear on streaming platforms. The band's own tongue-in-cheek warning: the sound quality is terrible. Which is exactly the charm.
Two decades in the scene, a strong album, three club shows in four days – support your local scene!
