From EBM Assault to Black Metal in a Church: This Week Goes Hard!
With over 110 shows across the Rhine-Ruhr region, this week is an absolute concert frenzy. From a monstrous industrial battle at the Turbinenhalle to post-punk icons and black metal in a house of worship – there's barely a genre left untouched.
The Week's Heavyweights
Monday kicks things off: Seattle punk-hardcore legends Zeke blast through Club Volta in Cologne – the perfect high-speed start to the week.
Tuesday brings a double punch: Scottish hard rock legends Nazareth hit the Kuhlschiff in der Lindenbrauerei in Unna – hearing "Love Hurts" live still hits different. That same evening, Belgian indie heroes dEUS bring their inimitable art-rock to Bürgerhaus Stollwerck in Cologne.
Wednesday delivers the post-punk highlight: Lebanon Hanover play the Fabrik Coesfeld – dark, cool elegance for all dark souls. If you prefer it louder, Deadletter bring their explosive UK post-punk to Artheater in Cologne.
Saturday Madness
The absolute highlight of the week: On Saturday, the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen transforms into an EBM and industrial fortress. Combichrist bring the aggro-industrial assault, joined by Ultra Sunn, Project Pitchfork, Funker Vogt, Noisuf-X, Kite, Neuroticfish, and Welle:Erdball – a lineup to make any dark heart beat faster.
Perhaps the most unusual gig of the week: LIFELOVER play black metal at the Christuskirche in Essen. Depressive black metal in a consecrated church – it doesn't get more atmospheric than this.
Underground Gems & Local Heroes
Bochum's very own guitar god Axel Rudi Pell graces the stage at Zeche Bochum on Thursday – a must for melodic power metal fans, right from the neighborhood!
Saturday heats up at Don't Panic in Essen: Warrant share the stage with local thrash berserkers Taskforce Toxicator and Knife – an evening of pure headbanging mayhem in Essen's underground haven. Still not enough? Samurai Pizza Cats deliver the metalcore party at Live Music Hall in Cologne.
Strong Sunday Finish
Sunday delivers a fitting finale: At Zeche Bochum, oriental metal pioneers Orphaned Land join forces with Queensrÿche legend Geoff Tate – an evening for metal connoisseurs. Meanwhile, French Police bring the post-punk vibes to Gebäude 9 in Cologne, and Traitrs deliver their dark gothic-punk at Kulttempel in Oberhausen.
