Green Lung at Rockfield Studios: "We Kept It Metal and Kept It Filthy"

Green Lung, one of the most exciting occult/doom rock bands out of London, gave Kerrang an inside look at the recording of their new album. Frontman Tom Templar and the band spent nine days at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales — the same room that hosted classics from Black Sabbath, Queen, Judas Priest, Oasis, and Rush.

Filthier Than 'This Heathen Land'

The band wants the follow-up to their 2023 album 'This Heathen Land' to feel heavier and grittier, with a "filthy '80s London vibe". Templar's words: "We kept it metal and kept it filthy." Producer is Tom Dalgety (Pixies, Royal Blood, Ghost), with engineering by Tim Lewis.

Atmosphere of Magic and the '80s

Inspired by Black Sabbath and the upstart spirit of the '80s underground, Green Lung are working on an album that should sharpen their signature mix of pagan themes, dense riffing, and Hammond-driven anthems. Release still planned for 2026 — the Kerrang cover feature ran in the spring 2026 issue.
