'The Ballad of Judas Priest': Metal Doc Premieres – Judas Priest Live in NRW!

Metalheads, listen up! A new documentary about the legendary heavy metal band Judas Priest is set to premiere at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival (Feb. 12–22, 2026). "The Ballad of Judas Priest" explores the band's rise, legacy, and passionate relationship with heavy metal music. The film is directed by veteran rock documentarian Sam Dunn and guitar icon Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave), who makes his directorial debut.

According to Audio Ink Radio, the film traces Judas Priest's journey from their working-class roots in Birmingham to global metal royalty. The documentary doesn't shy away from highlighting the moments that shaped the band's identity: the risks taken, the reinventions attempted, the setbacks endured, and the unwavering belief that heavy metal can be more than just noise.

Judas Priest, formed in Birmingham in 1969, is considered one of the most influential bands in heavy metal history. They popularized the leather-and-studs look that still dominates metal fashion today. With over 50 million records sold worldwide and anthems like "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight," they have shaped a genre. Their 2024 album "Invincible Shield" underscored their status and received a Grammy nomination.

But there's even more good news for all metal fans in the Rhine-Ruhr area: Judas Priest are coming to NRW live this summer! On Saturday, July 25, 2026, they will play at Sparkassenpark Mönchengladbach, and on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Messehalle Bielefeld. So, fire up the KRACH app and secure your tickets!
