The Kölner Philharmonie is a symphonic concert hall opened in 1986 near Cologne Cathedral, designed by architects Busmann + Haberer in the style of an amphitheatre. With a seating capacity of 2,000 and approximately 400 concerts per year, it is one of Europe's most prominent venues for symphonic and chamber music, jazz, and world music.
