Niwel Tsumbu is a guitarist and composer born in Kinshasa, Congo, who has lived in Cork, Ireland, since 2004. He blends Congolese rumba and soukous with jazz, classical, rock and folk into a distinctive fingerstyle. He has collaborated with Sinéad O'Connor, Buena Vista Social Club, Baaba Maal and the Silkroad Ensemble, and played guitar on Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi's Grammy-winning album "They're Calling Me Home".
