It's the end of an era. Sepultura – founded in 1984 in Belo Horizonte by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera – will release their very last EP on April 24, 2026 via Nuclear Blast: The Cloud Of Unknowing.
Four Songs as a Farewell
The EP comprises four tracks: "All Souls Rising," "Beyond the Dream," "Sacred Books," and the already released single "The Place." Vocalist Derrick Green, the band's voice since 1997, describes "The Place" as dealing with immigration, propaganda, and the transition from disappointment to anger. Nuclear Blast calls the EP "one of Sepultura's most diverse and emotionally resonant releases."
The Farewell Tour Comes to the Ruhr Area
The "Celebrating Life Through Death" farewell tour has been running since March 2024, hitting every continent. Especially relevant for NRW fans: on June 23, 2026, Sepultura play the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen. It's likely one of the last chances to experience classics like "Roots Bloody Roots," "Refuse/Resist," and "Territory" live. The very final concert is planned for October 2026 in São Paulo – as a massive "Sepul-Fest."
42 Years of Metal History
From the thrash milestones Beneath the Remains and Arise through the groove metal shift of Chaos A.D. to the tribal experiments of Roots – Sepultura have redefined the metal sound multiple times. In the current lineup with guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Jr., and new drummer Greyson Nekrutman (replacing Eloy Casagrande, who joined Slipknot), the band remains uncompromising until the very last note.
