Amon Amarth is a melodic death metal band formed in Tumba, Sweden, in 1992. Their lyrics primarily deal with Viking mythology and history. The band is named after a Sindarin name for Mount Doom, a volcano in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth.
