D.R.I

Formed on May 2, 1982, in Houston, Texas, D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) burst onto the scene as a hardcore punk powerhouse with founding members Kurt Brecht on vocals, Spike Cassidy on guitar, Eric Brecht on drums, and Dennis Johnson on bass. Pioneers of the crossover thrash genre, they fused blistering hardcore roots with thrash metal riffs, notably coining the term on their 1987 album *Crossover* and influencing bands like Suicidal Tendencies and Corrosion of Conformity. Relocating to San Francisco, they honed their aggressive sound through relentless touring—including the iconic 'Rock Against Reagan' tour with Dead Kennedys—and continue to deliver high-octane live performances with core members Brecht and Cassidy at the helm.
