Fu Manchu is a stoner rock band formed in 1985 in Southern California. Originally named Virulence, they initially played hardcore punk. They evolved into a stoner/desert rock sound, becoming one of the more well-known bands in the genre. Their music is characterized by heavy, fuzzed-out guitars and a driving rhythm section.
