James Brandon Lewis

James Brandon Lewis is an American jazz saxophonist and composer from Buffalo, New York. He studied at Howard University and the California Institute of the Arts, and his music combines gospel-rooted spirituality with free-jazz abandon and funk influences. His album 'The Jesup Wagon' and his Red Lily Quintet earned him Album/Artist of the Year honors from DownBeat and JazzTimes. He also released a collaborative album, 'The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis', together with the band The Messthetics.
