MARS

MARS is a duo from Mainz, Germany, founded in 2011 by Oliver Freund (vocals, guitar) and Marcus Stiglegger (percussion, vocals). Their sound combines raw, archaic acoustic folk with martial percussion, exotic instruments and atmospheric layers, drawing on US pagan folk and apocalyptic philosophy. Lyrics explore ancient European mythology and spirituality; the band has performed at festivals including NCN Festival and WGT Leipzig.
