Mercenárias

Mercenárias (also known as As Mercenárias) is a Brazilian post-punk band formed in São Paulo in 1982 by bassist Sandra Coutinho, vocalist Rosália Munhoz and guitarist Ana Machado. Influenced by Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, The Slits and the Sex Pistols, they released their debut album "Cadê as Armas?" in 1986 on the independent label Baratos Afins. The band disbanded in 1988 and reunited in 2006. Edgard Scandurra, who later became the guitarist of Ira!, briefly played drums with the band in the early 1980s.
