Phillip Boa And The Voodooclub formed in Dortmund in 1985 and became one of Germany's defining indie and alternative rock acts. Their sound pairs catchy melodies with post-punk and avant-garde influences, and frontman Phillip Boa is widely regarded as Germany's "indie king." Among their best-known records are "Copperfield" (1988) and "Boaphenia" (1993).
