Pussy Riot

Pussy Riot is a Russian feminist and anti-government performance art collective from Moscow, founded in 2011. Associated with the Riot Grrrl movement, the group gained international fame in 2012 for a "Punk Prayer" in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, for which members were sentenced to prison. Their trademarks are guerrilla performances in public spaces, wearing colorful balaclavas and using punk rock and activism to oppose authoritarianism and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
