Queens of the Stone Age is an American rock band formed in Palm Desert, California, in 1996. Founded by guitarist Josh Homme after the breakup of Kyuss, the band became known for their heavy, groove-laden sound that blends stoner rock, alternative rock, and hard rock. They are considered one of the most important rock bands of the 2000s.
