Silly was founded in East Berlin in the late 1970s, initially under the name "Familie Silly". With singer Tamara Danz, the band became one of East Germany's most popular rock groups, breaking through with the 1983 album "Mont Klamott"; several releases clashed with GDR censorship. After Danz's death in 1996 the band paused; actress Anna Loos sang with Silly from 2006 to 2018, and the album "Alles Rot" (2010) reached No. 3 on the German charts. Julia Neigel has been the band's singer since 2019.
