Sylvaine

Sylvaine is the solo project of Norwegian-American multi-instrumentalist Kathrine Shepard, launched in Oslo in 2013 with the album 'Silent Chamber, Noisy Heart'. Shepard blends blackgaze-style shoegaze textures with atmospheric black metal and classically trained vocals. With 'Atoms Aligned, Coming Undone' (2018) she became the first woman nominated for Best Metal Album at the Spellemannspris. Her fourth album, 'Nova', was released in 2022.
