The Silos

The Silos were formed in New York City in 1985 by Walter Salas-Humara and Bob Rupe, playing alt-country, alt-rock and Americana before those terms existed. Their 1987 album "Cuba" was named Best New Artist in the Rolling Stone critics' poll, and their self-titled 1990 RCA album led to an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman. Co-founder Bob Rupe died on March 3, 2025; the band, led by Walter Salas-Humara, toured Germany and Austria in 2025 to mark their 40th anniversary.
