The Stranglers

The Stranglers formed in 1974 in Guildford, England, and became one of the most enduring bands to emerge from the UK punk explosion. Pioneers of punk and new wave, they stood apart with Dave Greenfield's distinctive keyboards, Jean-Jacques Burnel's aggressive bass lines, and Hugh Cornwell's dark, sardonic vocals. Albums like Rattus Norvegicus (1977) and Black and White (1978) combined punk aggression with an intellectual edge and sinister melodies. With over 20 UK top 40 albums and timeless singles like "Golden Brown," "No More Heroes," and "Always the Sun," The Stranglers remain one of the most influential and consistently touring bands of their generation.
