Woods of Birnam

Woods of Birnam formed in Dresden in 2011 when actor and musician Christian Friedel joined forces with Uwe Pasora, Philipp Makolies, Ludwig Bauer and Christian Grochau. The band started as an indie-pop project but became equally known for writing theatre and film music, including the score for a 2012 Hamlet production at Staatsschauspiel Dresden. The band's name refers to Birnam Wood from Shakespeare's Macbeth. Their song "I'll Call Thee Hamlet" became the title track of Til Schweiger's film "Honig im Kopf", and in 2025 they released the album "Solaris" for a production of the same name at Schauspiel Frankfurt.
