Rage Against Racism kicks off in Duisburg today – free, outdoors, against racism

Duisburg-Rheinhausen, you know what to do: Rage Against Racism Open Air 2026 starts this afternoon at the Die Mühle youth centre – two days of metal, punk and hardcore, and entry costs what it has for over 20 years: nothing. "Free & outdoors" isn't a slogan here, it's the concept.

The line-up packs a punch: Crazy Lixx bring Swedish sleaze rock, Crypta Brazilian death metal and Omnium Gatherum melodic heaviness from Finland. Add local heroes like Duisburg punk institution Eisenpimmel, Night In Gales and Ignition, plus Darkness, Sweeping Death, Changing Tides, Cathubodua, ChuggaBoom, Intense and the Musikcorps Hohenbudberg. Slot-battle winners Grave Intentions from Datteln earned their spot on stage – supporting newcomers has always been part of the deal here.

RAR is more than a free open air: a volunteer team has been running the festival for over two decades as a loud statement against racism, hate and discrimination – metal culture with a clear stance.

Things kick off today at 16:30 (doors 16:00), tomorrow as early as 12:30. The site is at Clarenbachstraße 14, 47229 Duisburg, a few minutes' walk from Rheinhausen station – organisers explicitly ask you to arrive by public transport, parking is scarce.
